POLL: Who Should be the First NYC FC Superstar?

The crappy thing about this blog is that you never get to talk about the players. There are no trades to discuss, no coach’s moves to lambaste.

Hopefully, a New York franchise will be announced soon, so we can start doing the fun parts of being a fan. Until then I put up a new poll to decide who we want to see as the “Face” of a NYC FC. If you would like to vote, you can find the poll on the left sidebar.

I tried to pick a diverse group of soccer players. If you want to see Kaka, Messi, Ronaldo or someone else use the “Other” option and I’ll report those when the poll is closed.

I guess New Yorkers really do not want their soccer club to be named after energy drinks. Neither Monster nor Rockster got a single vote!

New York City’s tap water won with 55% of the vote. Brooklyn Lager was second with 30% followed by Jamba Juice’s 15%. I have a feeling that any pregame tailgating will have a different outcome.

So here’s to NYC tap water, but I prefer mine with:

When comes to beverages there are two facts about a NYC FC fan: (1) we’re always thirsty as exhibited at the last Borough Boys meet-up and (2) Red Bulls taste like swamp water. All the loud and rowdy New Yorkers are going to need some refreshing thirst-quenching liquid fuel, so what do you think should be our official energy drink?

Here are the contenders:
- Jamba Juice
- Rockstar energy drink
- Monster energy drink
- Brooklyn Lager
- New York City tap water

Please consider your vote carefully. It can have serious repercussions at future tailgating events.

The results are in and the winner is NEW YORK FC! It was a slaughter to be honest. Here’s the breakdown of the 73 votes:

New York FC 56% (41 votes)
NY Cosmos 19% (14 votes)
New York City 11% (8 votes)
Other 8% (6 votes)
NY International 4% (5 votes)

The Others were Gotham Knights (2 votes), NY Mets SC (1 Vote), Brooklyn Dodgers FC (1 vote), anything other than Cosmos (1 vote), and one vote was blank.

Thanks everyone for voting and this poll will probably return as we get closer to a New York FC!

NEW POLL: Name the NYC FC

A December poll to name the Big Apple’s MLS franchise is up. Check it out on the sidebar and let your voice be heard. I’ll post some of the “Others” voters submitted when the poll is over.

Someone has already voted for a “Mets” type of name (”New York Mets SC” to be exact). I apologize for not adding a “Metropolitan” option… I guess the Yankee fan in me has not come to terms with a Wilpon-owned football club.
